Weekend in Pittsburgh
We spent last weekend in Pittsburgh exploring the city and going to a Pittsburgh Penguins game. Cameron has been a Pens fan since birth but this was his first home game as an added bonus they won.
I thought I would share some of our pics and things we did. Thanks to all of my friends who suggested places to go and try.
Our adorable hotel, Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Pittsburgh. The decor was super fun and modern. The staff was nice. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a fun weekend stay in the city.
The highlight of our trip revolved around the Penguins. We walked down there first thing Saturday morning, and Cameron turned into me at Disney World as he looked around the team store.
Seriously though, when you live in a state with no professional team for your favorite sport, and states away from your favorite team being in a shop filled with Penguins things is seriously the dream.
The phrase BEST TRIP EVER was mentioned more than once.
On top of just being in Consol Energy Center the Penguins killed the Islanders. Which was just the icing on the cake.
We stayed as long as they would let us, until the entire stadium was cleared out. Seeing Cameron so happy was the best. He doesn't smile like that for the camera often.
We stayed until the place was cleared out and the ice was being cleaned up. Cameron wanted to soak up every moment we were there.
The next morning we headed to Gluuteny bakery for breakfast (amazing gluten free baked goods) and grabbed some coffee nearby.
Then we headed to my choice for the trip, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
The sky was grey and snow was in the air, the perfect winter day! Phipps is beautiful inside and out. It was built in 1892, and every corner is filled with beautiful details.
